Watch of the Month: The SevenFriday M2/02
The SevenFriday M2/02 is a bold and unique entry-level automatic timepiece: sleek, stylish and perfect for the unconventional watch-lover.
Reading atypically, the SevenFriday M2/02 features a fixed hour hand with three revolving customized discs showing hours, minutes and seconds. The identification plate has a single solid rose gold dash at the three o’clock position that aligns with the correct time.
These discs are powered by an open balance wheel Miyota 8215 movement with 40 hour reserve, a 21-jewel movement at 21,600 BPH.
The interface is a 7-layer construction with 11 applied parts of dark grey and 5N rose gold finished alternatively across the seven layers in cast iron grain, opalin, mat and satin.
The stainless steel case itself is sizeable, measuring 47 x 47.6mm, and too finished with 5N rose gold PVD (physical vapour deposition) treatment. The bezel is a dark grey mirror PVD with 5N rose gold line; the animation ring is stainless steel sandblasted dark grey PVD and the identification plate, fixed at the three o’clock position, is polished 5N rose gold PVD.
Specially hardened and antireflective treated mineral glass encloses the inner workings of the timepiece and seals it to a water resistance of 3ATM.
The brown imprinted calf suede leather strap attaches to the case with a lugless design, making the innovative timepiece even more strikingly seamless.
A bold, unique and entirely attractive design, the M2/02 feels and looks good on the wrist and is without doubt a talking point for the horologists among us.
